Red light therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT), works by exposing the skin to low levels of red or near-infrared light. The light penetrates the skin and stimulates the mitochondria, the energy powerhouses of the cells, to produce more ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the primary source of energy for cellular processes. This increased energy production can improve cellular function, promote healing, and reduce inflammation.
